Mars

Program Objective:

In the Mars program, we aim to foster social development in children with autism aged 6-8. The program focuses on enhancing conversational initiation and age-appropriate social skills. Furthermore, it is designed for those who thrive in one-to-one support and need to refine communication abilities within a group setting, provided they have met most of foundational social communication skills and basic group routine skills.

Program Structure:

The program provides a supportive environment for children to strengthen various social skills.

Activities emphasize:

  • Reciprocal and Maintaining Conversation: Targeted exercises to encourage participants to initiate and sustain conversations.

  • Group Interaction: Facilitation of age-appropriate group activities to enhance collaboration and communication.

  • Social Skills Development: Tailored sessions addressing key skills for this age group, such as turn-taking, sharing, and expressing emotions.

  • Instructional Support: Building on students' ability to follow multi-step instructions while introducing more complex social scenarios.

How We Monitor Progress:

Your child's progress is monitored throughout the term; not just at the end.

Before the program
An individual assessment helps us identify learning needs, establish goals, and determine appropriate group placement.

During each session
Facilitators observe and support each learner's conversational initiation, group participation, social interactions & skill acquisition, behaviour, and progress toward their individualized learning goals.

Every month
Our facilitators meet to review learner progress and discuss programming adjustments and group placement when needed.

Mid-term
Families have an individual meeting with our team to discuss their child's progress, goals, and next steps.

End of term
Families receive a written progress report summarizing their child's progress and areas for continued development.

See What Your Child Is Learning:

We know that parents want to understand what happens after they drop their child off.

Through our private Bridge Kids group app, families can see photos from each session and learn about the activities and skills their child worked on that day.
