Our Story

1/2
Since the early 2000s, Sally has dedicated her career to supporting neurodivergent individuals, including children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). As a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA) with a Master of Education in Special Education, Sally is deeply committed to implementing neurodiversity-affirming practices that honour each child’s unique strengths and perspectives. Her approach emphasizes partnership, mutual respect, and empowering children to take ownership of their growth, ensuring interventions align with their goals and values.
Driven by her belief in the importance of real-life social experiences, Sally founded Bridge Kids BC—a centre that provides professional guidance in a supportive, community-oriented environment. Under her leadership, BKBC has empowered over 500 local families, with many children supported from the age of three through high school graduation. Sally’s team has also trained and supervised numerous professionals, including Registered Behaviour Technicians (RBTs), Board Certified Assistant Behaviour Analysts (BCaBAs), and Board Certified Behaviour Analysts (BCBAs), ensuring the next generation of practitioners is equipped with compassionate, individualized approaches.
Sally’s work extends beyond her centre. She is a passionate advocate for systemic change, presenting to the local community and mentoring emerging professionals. BKBC has sponsored the BC-ABA, an annual conference at the University of British Columbia, demonstrating Sally’s commitment to advancing knowledge and collaboration in the field. She has been invited to speak on Chinese radio in Vancouver and featured in local newspapers to raise awareness of autism. Sally created a series of Cantonese videos and interviews to educate the public, fostering greater understanding and acceptance of neurodivergent individuals and their families.
During the COVID-19 pandemic (2019-2021), Sally launched six online courses in English, Cantonese, Mandarin, and Korean, and a YouTube channel, which have reached over 10,000 families worldwide, including communities in North America, Asia, and beyond. These resources continue to provide vital support, reflecting Sally’s commitment to accessibility and innovation. Her dedication to growth is evident in her team’s development of new programs and social groups every term, ensuring their support evolves with the community’s needs.
Guided by her philosophy, Sally’s approach focuses on collaboration, respect, and empowering the child’s autonomy, aligning interventions with their personal goals and values. This neurodiversity-affirming philosophy celebrates the unique strengths and perspectives of each child, distinguishing it from traditional approaches that may focus more on compliance.
The most rewarding part of Sally’s work is seeing children develop meaningful communication skills, form lasting friendships, and gain confidence in social settings. Fluent in Cantonese and Mandarin, Sally’s impact extends across cultural and linguistic boundaries. Her unwavering commitment to neurodiversity-affirming practices and her advocacy for families and individuals with special needs continue to inspire and transform lives.
