Coughs and Colds
Colds are very common, but there are some symptoms that warrant keeping a child home or cancelling your home session. These include, bad colds with hacking or persistent cough with yellow/green phlegm being coughed up. These symptoms may be present with or without a fever. If your child cannot participate in the daily routine, he/she is probably too sick to be in a session. If your child has extreme discomfort, is contagious, or is struggling to breathe, please keep your child home or cancel your home session.
Fevers are common in children and are often a sign that something is wrong. If your child has a fever of 100.0F or higher, please keep him or her home and cancel his or her home session. If your child develops a fever of 100.0F or higher during session at the centre, you will be called to pick him/her up. If it happens at home, your BI will cancel the session immediately.
Your child must remain free of fever for 24 hours before returning to the centre
Diarrhea and Vomiting
Diarrhea due to illness is highly contagious. If your child has diarrhea, please keep him/her home or cancel your home session. If your child has 2 or more diarrhea episodes while at the centre (or during home session), you will be called to pick him/her up (or BI will cancel the home session). Please understand that germs from diarrhea can be spread through toys, slides and direct contact. It is very difficult to keep from spreading these germs to other children.
If your child vomits while at the centre, you will be called immediately to pick him/her up. Please keep your child at home until 24 hours after the vomiting has stopped.
A rash may be a sign of many illnesses, such as measles or chicken pox. Please do not send your child to the centre with a rash until the doctor says it is he/she is able to be in contact with other people. Please cancel your home session as soon as you see rash on your chlid.
Parents are responsible for giving the Behaviour Consultant and all BIs a 24-hour notice to cancel any scheduled services. Parents will be charged for one hour of service when a cancellation is made without a 24-hour notice. Parents will pay for the full amount if a cancellation is made less than 6 hours of notice. These amounts will be charged to be fair to our BI's because they will be spending time on making and updating teaching materials in advance to the session.
In the event where the service provider arrives and parents are not home, they (behaviour consultant and BIs) will try all possible ways to reach the family and have to wait for at least 30 minutes before leaving. Parents are responsible to pay him/her the full scheduled time if parent and the child do not show up during the 30 minutes.
Parents need to cancel any services if your child is sick, has extreme discomfort, is contagious, or is struggling to breathe. The service provider has the right to cancel session and charge for the full scheduled time when your child has a fever, rash, diarrhea, vomiting, and contagious symptoms during session time.
The behaviour consultant and all BIs are responsible for giving parents 24-hour notice to cancel any scheduled services, and they will need to make up their time at my convenience or find a substitute for the team.
During the winter months, we may need to cancel sessions because of extreme weather conditions (e.g.: windstorm, snowstorm.) for safety reasons. Parents may cancel sessions during these days without being charged for the cancellation.
