Walkie Talkie Summer Camp
We are very grateful that we can continue the ‘Walkie Talkie’ for the summer term. The ‘Walkie Talkie’ group will continue working on building the social and problem-solving skills of children - helping them adapt to different social settings.
We always welcome new friends who can join this new friendship circle as well! The kids in this program are always very interested in meeting new friends. We have both positive and negative interactions with friends, which are extremely normal for kids in this age. Together they can learn with eachother on best practices and how to manage different problems.
The delivery model includes but is not limited to: interactive quizzes, group games, cooperative activities, social crafts, and scenario analysis. Behavior Support Strategies such as visual supports, self-recording, demonstrations, group contingency, positive practice, and positive feedback with reinforcements will be put in place to ensure a positive learning environment and outcome.
Please note that the self-recording is the new behaviour strategy used for the learners in this group. Therefore, learners who join this group should be able to read simple sentences (e.g. ‘Did I follow the teacher’s direction at once?’).
There will be some writing activities so kids in this program should be able to write basic words independently.
Children in this program will learn how to…
· Understand the different perspective of others
· Read social cues from others and change their behaviours accordingly
· Give comments or opinions without hurting others’ feelings
· Initiate and build peer relationships
· Reflect their own behaviours
· Maintain the casual conversations with others by making relevant comments/questions
· Work as a pair/team
· Solve problems collaboratively
